Powder Paint Technician

Position Summary:  Responsible for preparing, masking and applying powder coatings to castings by operating specialized powder coating equipment, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to customer specifications while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

 

Core Responsibilities: 
•    Start-up of all powder coating equipment.
•    Perform chemical analysis daily and check film thickness and document.
•    Order chemicals as required and maintain spare parts inventory.
•    Maintain paint guns and booth including clean up.
•    Monitor data reports of paint process and document.
•    Facilitate color changes and coordinate hanging of parts on the paint line. 
•    Enter maintenance work and repair work orders in the maintenance system.
•    Punctuality and daily attendance.
•    Moderate to heavy lifting of parts from and to baskets.
•    Performs other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management to support Volvo Penta goals and objectives.

-    Follow all quality work instructions to ensure adherence to customer specifications.
-    Follow all environmental work instructions to ensure adherence to Volvo requirements and other legal obligations
-    Initiate kaizens and participate in cross-functional kaizens, as needed.

 

Skills and Knowledge Required: 
•    Ability to read and write
•    Basic computer skills for Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
•    Attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
•    Accountability: Take the lead in getting the job done and accept responsibility for actions, performance, and personal improvements
•    Requires on-the-job training.
•    Must be able to lift heavy parts <=40lbs.

•    Computer
•    Hand tools – including air-powered
•    Powder paint equipment 
•    Safety shoes
•    Gloves
•    Hearing protection
•    Respirator required (annual respiratory fit test required)

 

Education and Experience:  
•    High school graduate or equivalent required
