What you will do

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance systems and problem-solving activities in production process. This role involves working closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure that our products meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements. As a Quality Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in leading, managing and resolving quality issues using structural PSM methods, collaborating with multiple teams, and contributing to the overall success of our operations.  You are part of the support function Quality, Environment, Safety & VPS (Volvo Performance System). This role will have Quality Management System-related responsibilities as well and will be Quality representative in Projects. Quality Engineer will be responsible for providing training in PSM and will take an active role in SQDCEP improvement initiatives.

 

Responsibilities: 
•Develop and implement quality control plans, procedures, and standards for quality assurance processes
•Define inspections and audits instructions/check sheets to ensure compliance with quality standards.
•Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement and address them with cross-functional team, leading root cause analysis and problem-solving activities
•Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, including all ISO standards applicable for the site
•Coach and mentor plant employees on PSM methods and tools, quality control procedures and quality best practices.
•Prepare and present quality reports for management and stakeholders using Power BI
•Improve the way of working in Quality SharePoint 
•Participate, lead continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizens) to enhance product/process quality and production efficiency.
•Develop and maintain digital systems using Power Apps to streamline quality processes and data management.
•Work and improve on SQDCEP and specific area targets
•Be Quality representative in projects
•Perform Internal Audits and maintain related records
•Work in QMS system, lead and participate in external /internal Audits
•Performs other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management to support Volvo Penta goals and objectives

Who are you?

Skills and Knowledge Required: 
•Minimum 5 years of experience in quality engineering, in a manufacturing environment.
•Strong knowledge and experience of quality assurance principles, methodologies, and tools.
•Experience in ISO standards or other quality management systems and performing Audits.
•Experience in lean methodology.
•Experience in leading problem-solving.
•Proficiency in quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
•Proven experience with Power Apps or similar digital system development tools.
•Experience with Power BI or any other digital reporting systems.
•Proficiency in quality data analysis.

Education and Experience:  
•Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
•Minimum 5 years of experience in quality engineering, in a manufacturing environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience in the marine or automotive industry.
•Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification.
•Internal ISO Auditor Certificate.

 

Position can require occasional domestic and international travel.

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $96,000 - $118,500 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
