POSITION TITLE: Director, Human Resources (Lehigh Valley Operations)
INTRODUCTION
The Director, Human Resources serves as the HR leader providing direction for People & Culture, Labor Relations, Safety, and Training at the Lehigh Valley Operations manufacturing site. This is both a strategic and hands-on leadership role, one that requires equal fluency in labor relations, operational HR, and organizational capability building.
This position is member of the site’s operations management team helping translate enterprise HR strategy into site-level execution and build a P&C function that earns the trust of employees, union partners, and leaders alike.
This position reports directly to the Head of Lehigh Valley (Plant Manager)
ROLE DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as a strategic advisor to the Plant Manager and site leadership team, connecting people strategy to operational performance
• Lead and develop a multi-functional team with oversight of People & Culture, Labor Relations, Safety and Training setting clear expectations, building capability, and driving performance
• Maintain a visible P&C presence on the floor, serving as an accessible and trusted resource for employees, supervisors and union partners
• Lead labor relations including contract negotiations, grievance management, and day-to-day CBA interpretation and compliance
• Build and sustain a productive, trust-based relationship with union leadership grounded in transparency and mutual accountability
• Champion safety as a cultural value, not a compliance checkbox holding leaders and employees accountable to a safe working environment
• Coach frontline leaders on effective management of hourly employees including attendance, performance, and engagement in a shift-based environment
• Manage complex employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinary actions, performance management
• Ensure compliance with employment law, company policy, and CBA provisions, consult legal counsel on complex matters
• Direct the site Training function, ensuring programs are aligned to operational needs, compliance requirements, and workforce capability goals
• Partner with operations on workforce planning, high volume hourly hiring and ramp up strategies
• Drive succession planning and talent development to build bench strength across the organization
• Use HR metrics and workforce data to identify trends, manage risk, and inform leadership decisions
Who are you?
We are looking for a seasoned, multi-functional people leader who has earned credibility on the manufacturing floor. You understand the complexity of union environments, the urgency of production operations, and what it takes to lead across HR, Safety, and Training simultaneously.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (required)
• Master’s degree or advanced HR certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR) strongly preferred
Experience:
• 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5+ years in a site-level leadership role
• Significant experience supporting a large hourly unionized workforce in a manufacturing environment required
• Demonstrated experience in labor relations, including CBA negotiation and grievance management
• Experience leading multiple functions with direct accountability across HR, safety, or training; track record of building high-performing teams
• Experience developing workforce strategies and managing high-volume hourly talent pipelines in a manufacturing environment preferred
