About the Position
The primary mission of a P&C P is to collaborate with the business and employees to improve performance through best-in-class P&C support. Our team achieves results by being driven, innovative, collaborative and trustworthy. This role is both hands-on and strategic and provides expertise in the areas of employee relations, labor relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, employee engagement, learning and development, and ad hoc projects as necessary. The P& C Partners at LVO are passionate about their work and help deliver positive change every day.
This position will sit in Macungie, PA.
 

Main activities and responsibilities for these roles

  • Responsible for human resource activities such as compensation and benefits, labor and employee relations, talent management, diversity and inclusion, competence development, workplace health and wellbeing, organizational development and change.
  • Demonstrate that the Human Resources team is a best-in-class example of continuous improvement, implementing lean initiatives and showing how an effective team should work. We walk the talk when it comes to ethics and morality.
  • Maintain effective relationships with labor unions and interact with union officials and others on matters pertaining to employee relations concerns and collective bargaining agreement provisions. Collective bargaining agreement administration and interpretation. Participate in contract negotiations and grievance resolution.
  • Consistently utilize Continuous Improvement techniques to optimize position and department efficiencies and serve as a People Development Coach to managers, employees and the organization.
  • Coach and challenge managers in decision making on P&C matters and in the roll out and management of P&C processes/activities. Counsel and coach leaders on policy and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide advice and assistance on company policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Build relationships at all levels within the organization to effectively maximize employee involvement in driving change.
  • Active participant in both regional and global P&C networks.
  • Proactively build and promote strong employee trust and open communication among all levels of the organization using the business Strategic Priorities, Mack Values (We Are Safety, We Are Quality, We Are People and We Are Delivery) and Volvo Values (Customer Success, Trust, Passion, Change, and Performance) and Volvo’s Code of Conduct

Critical competencies and experience

We are looking for a strong leader and team member with a customer focus who will be committed to the teamwork environment through being a resourceful team player. Maintaining collaborative relationships with team members internal and external is key in creating a successful and strong team. Critical to this role is having strong business acumen, showing that you understand the real challenges that our leaders have, that you can add value and help them find solutions, a desire to walk the floor and talk to employees and leaders, hear their views and help implement change. It is essential that the candidate has a strong history of employee engagement. Experience with decision making and influencing ability is key in being able to drive the implementation and necessary changes. Excellent communication skills will ease both team and cross functional work for allowing trustworthy network building.

 

The ideal candidate for this position has:

  • Bachelor of Science or of Arts in Human Resources (Masters preferred) or a related field, 5+ years Related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and employment law
  • Proven success in change management and competence management, a project management mindset, and Strong personal credibility, integrity and self-leadership
  • A strong background in supporting the implementation of a Lean culture in an organization. Union relations experience would be beneficial
