What you will do

You will be responsible for defining and coordinating the end-to-end material and logistics flow to support new product introductions and industrialization activities. Acting as the senior technical expert, you will lead the evaluation of manpower and resource requirements, develop change management plans, and ensure strong alignment across cross-functional stakeholders. The role requires performing high-level analyses of material flow, space, cost, and transportation to identify critical impacts and risks, while defining sourcing, inventory, and logistics strategies. You will determine infrastructure, layout, and equipment needs, lead RFQs for logistics systems and assets, and support build and ramp-up phases. In addition, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives across logistics processes and act as a Scrum Master, supporting and enabling an agile team to deliver scalable, efficient, and robust logistics solutions.

 

You will belong to the LVO Logistics Engineering department. You will report to the Logistics Engineering Business Team Leader in LVO Mack Trucks and located onsite in Macungie PA.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design future logistics processes and solutions that utilize lean manufacturing concepts and latest innovations in technology and automation
  • Assigned as the key logistics resource for product and industrial projects to deliver end-2-end logistics solutions; work cross functionally across multiple departments following the project management logistics assurance plan deliverables
  • Must be able to make data driven decisions with the latest data analysis tools (AI, Power BI, etc.)
  • Defines material handling and logistics resource requirements, including manpower calculations and support needed for industrialization project phases
  • Develop and execute change management plans to ensure stakeholder alignment throughout the project lifecycle
  • Establishes the optimal material flow for new product families using business case and E2E evaluations to determine critical commodity flows
  • Performs high-level flow analysis during product introduction to identify critical paths and assess space and cost impacts
  • Analyzes transportation requirements, including trailer lane needs and logistics network impacts
  • Evaluates the flow impact of special packaging and non-standard material requirements
  • Develop new logistics strategies and align decisions with key stakeholders, including in-house versus 3PL responsibilities
  • Identifies infrastructure needs such as storage systems, racking, dock doors, and facility capabilities
  • Ensures RFQs are developed, released, and tracked for tooling, IT, infrastructure, material handling equipment, and carts
  • Determines sourcing strategies, including batch versus sequencing approaches
  • Evaluates inventory levels, storage capacity, and internal process depth requirements
  • Develops high-level layout concepts and industrial footprint analysis using AutoCAD
  • Perform space analysis to assess storage and material flow impacts based on part and volume changes
  • Implement Strategic Kaizens using MPS and VOC/MPG as base
  • Run Agile meetings as Scrum Master to assure features tasks are being delivered on time

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong in building networks across cultures and organizations
  • Proven leadership skills: communicative, persuasive, action oriented and results driven
  • Profound knowledge of logistics processes, project management, systems development
  • Proven to be very competent in designing and implementing logistic flows from A to Z
  • Proven knowledge about LEAN philosophy, problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Proven experience in managing projects and are skilled in project management structures
  • Advanced understanding and proficiency in IT systems
  • Lean manufacturing concepts and principles
  • Ability to work flexible hours especially during project implementations
  • Experience in logistics application development
  • Experiencing in training, coaching and mentoring in a technical capacity
  • Strong desire to embrace, utilize and implement emerging technology (AI, ML, IoT, Power Apps, Automation, etc.)  
  • Experiencing with Master Process Guide and VOC (Volvo Operational Concept)

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, or 7 years of relevant work experience
  • Minimum 5 years working in Manufacturing/Logistics preparation or engineering in a heavy-duty truck manufacturing environment

 

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $96,000 - $118,500 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
