People & Culture Business Partner

What you will do

You will:

Drive our mission by working with leaders and employees across the business to ensure Volvo Group is a great place to work for everyone. Volvo’s People & Culture Partners are passionate about their work and help deliver positive change every day. 

• Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on HR related matters, including but not limited to performance & competence management, labor & employee relations, organizational development & change and talent development.
• Partner with managers to identify talent needs, facilitate the recruitment process, and onboard new team members for union effectively
• Lead initiatives to enhance employee engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.
• Provide coaching/feedback and support to managers on effective leadership practices, conflict resolution, and team dynamics.
• Maintain effective relationships with labor unions and interact with union officials and others on matters pertaining to employee relations concerns and collective bargaining agreement provisions. Participate in contract negotiations and grievance resolution. Support contract administration.
• Consistently utilize Continuous Improvement techniques to optimize position and department efficiencies and serve as a People Development Coach to managers and the organization.
• Train Supervisors on labor and employee relations, act as a consultant on complex workplace issues.
• Build relationships at all levels within the organization to effectively maximize employee involvement in driving change.
• Proactively build and promote strong employee trust and open communication among all levels of the organization.

Your Future Team

As a People & Culture Partner, you will be part of a team consisting of People & Culture Partner and communications. Our team plays a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing our organizational culture while supporting the growth and development of our talented team members. Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, you will collaborate closely with managers at all levels to implement HR initiatives that align with our company’s goals and values while collaborating with the business to improve performance through best-in-class HR support. Our team achieves results by being driven, innovative, collaborative, and trustworthy. This role is hands-on and provides expertise in the areas of employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, employee engagement, learning and development, and ad hoc projects as necessary.

Maintaining collaborative relationships with team members internally and externally is key to creating a successful and strong team. Experience with decision making and influencing ability is key in being able to drive the implementation and necessary changes.  Excellent communication skills will ease both team and cross-functional work allowing trustworthy network building.   

Required Skills and Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). 
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in HR roles or related experience in manufacturing. 
• Labor Relations experience 
• Digitalization experience 
• Strong personal credibility, integrity, and self-leadership. 
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $72,600 - $89,700 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
