What you will do
The Production Supervisor leads day-to-day shop floor operations in a heavy duty truck remanufacturing environment, driving Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost performance. This role supervises hourly employees across multiple work cells, develops a high-performing team in a fast-paced industrial setting, and ensures stable execution of production plans while driving continuous improvement. The position requires visible, hands-on leadership, comfort making real-time decisions under pressure, and flexibility to adjust schedules to meet customer and production demands in a unionized environment.

- Lead, coach, and develop employees to achieve daily production goals, maintain engagement, and ensure accountability
- Oversee daily production operations to meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets
- Plan and allocate labor, equipment, and materials to support efficient workflow and throughput
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure material availability, resolve issues, and maintain production flow
- Enforce safety standards, support compliance activities, and lead incident reporting and corrective actions
- Ensure adherence to work instructions, quality standards, and OEM remanufacturing specifications
- Drive continuous improvement through Lean practices, problem-solving, and waste reduction
- Monitor performance, maintain accurate production records, and support operational reporting
- Support staffing, onboarding, training, and workforce flexibility through cross-skilling
- Manage scheduling, overtime, and labor relations processes, including union coordination where applicable

Required Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of supervisor experience in manufacturing
- Manufacturing or heavy industrial experience, including remanufacturing or similar operations
- Demonstrated frontline leadership experience supervising or leading hourly production employees
- Strong working knowledge of shop floor operations: safety, quality, production control, and labor management
- Ability to lead in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment (noise, temperature variation, heavy equipment)
- Strong communication skills, accountability, and ability to conduct performance and conflict conversations
- Comfort with KPI-based management and production reporting systems (shift metrics, standard work, basic ERP/MRP exposure)
- Flexibility to support rotating shifts, weekends, overtime, and schedule changes based on production needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with heavy duty truck or component remanufacturing (engines, transmissions, axles, drivetrain systems)
- Experience in a unionized environment and working under a Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing, structured problem solving, and CI methods (e.g., 5 Whys, A3, Fishbone, FMEA; Six Sigma/Lean)
- Familiarity with machining, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, painting, and assembly processes common to heavy-duty components
- Post-secondary education (Bachelor’s preferred) in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or related field; or a technical/vocational degree in diesel or mechanical technology
- Safety or operations certifications (as applicable): OSHA 10/30, lockout/tagout, forklift, hazard communication
Work Environment
- Full-time presence on a heavy manufacturing/remanufacturing shop floor with exposure to noise, heat, grease/fluids, and moving equipment
- Frequent standing, walking, bending; ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- PPE required (e.g., safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, gloves)
- Hands-on, blue-collar environment where working alongside the team on the floor is expected
