In April 2021, Volvo Group and Isuzu Motors formed a strategic alliance with the goal of becoming the largest and most competitive commercial vehicle alliance in the world. This long-term worldwide cooperation is based on a "win-win" approach, with each party leveraging its strengths in specific products, technology, and markets to maximize value and benefits. In this strategic alliance, Purchasing has a key role in identifying and executing synergy initiatives and projects that harvest on the alliance strengths.
We are now strengthening the Purchasing set-up by recruiting a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE). The mission is to be the interface in between SQEs from each company supporting the project activities for all Alliance components. You will also be the day-to-day interface from Volvo Group Trucks Purchasing to Isuzu Motors/UD Trucks Purchasing as well as to other Volvo Group stakeholders to deliver the project an efficient and compliant manner.
Main Responsibilities
- Monitor, identify, and mitigate risks in the project phase and running business/ maintenance in cooperation with your cross-functional project team and Alliance members.
- Efficiently manage and resolve queries that do not require the specialized knowledge of component SQEs through established Volvo Group processes, tools and resources.
- Assess the requirements and streamline the process for initiating support requests from Isuzu Motors/UD Trucks by precisely outlining the case details.
- Be the interface in between Volvo SQE and Isuzu Motors/UD Trucks SQE organizations.
- Be the interface with Isuzu Motors/UD Trucks Plant Quality department to support solving Zero KM supplier quality issues for Alliance components.
- Prepare the first investigation report and define the problem reported by Isuzu Motors/UD Trucks.
- Be the first point of escalation for SQEs in case of any issues related to plant quality and compliance topics for common parts.
- Interface with Volvo Group Trucks Technology (Quality & Customer Satisfaction) to support solving field supplier quality issues for common components.
- Effectively convey prioritized field and plant quality information to the relevant stakeholders at Volvo Group Purchasing Supply Network Quality department.
- Secure needed communication with Volvo Group cross functional teams.
- Support to develop the quality process and way of working on the Alliance scope.
- Gather and share feedback from the Isuzu Motors/UD Trucks SQE organization to key/relevant stakeholders within Volvo to enhance operational processes and drive continuous improvement
- Secure compliance according to the policies and guidelines.

We are looking for someone with:
- Preferred MSc or BSc in Engineering, and 5+ years of technical experience needed.
- Good knowledge and practice of automotive quality standards and tools, such as IATF 16949, VDA, APQP and PPAP.
- Experience from supplier quality work within automotive business.
- Good knowledge and experience on key processes within Purchasing and Trucks Technology.
- Preferably a good network within Volvo Group Truck Divisions (Purchasing, Technology and Operations) to facilitate smooth and swift communication within the organization.
- Experience of working in diverse areas/organizations which has given you a strong intercultural understanding and ability to execute in a global, multi-dimensional and multi-cultural organization.
- Strong skills in navigating ambiguity.
- Developed interpersonal skills.
- Good English communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
