Machine Shop Inspector

  1. Overall Purpose

 

Ongoing maintenance / updating of Calibration System in line with ISO. Stock control of Inspection materials, raise appropriate purchase orders

 

  1. Main Responsibilities (key tasks)

 

* Carry out calibration of measuring Equipment within Calibration system aligned with 

  QMS

 

* Maintain calibration / Inspection records

 

* Ensure equipment due for external calibration is processed within compliance / time

 

* Stock control & ordering of Inspection materials

 

* Raise purchase orders as required

 

* Liaise with quality engineers

  

* Inspection of Machine Shop components and materials

 

* Investigate problems i.e components, Machine errors or fit up

 

* Liaise with Quality and Engineering where required

 

* Raise appropriate paperwork within SAP i.e RTV, Rework and scrap orders

 

* Decision making for accept/reject criteria

 

* Utilize specialized inspection Equipment i.e CMM / FARO Arm / 3D scanner

  1. Qualifications

 

Time served in a mechanical engineering role

 

City and Guilds or Mechanical Engineering Technician

 

 

  1. Skills & Knowledge

 

* Machine shop product knowledge essential

 

* Skilled in the use of measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers etc.)

 

* Skilled in the use of Mitutoyo CMM / FARO Arm / T Viewer / Zeiss Inspect – 3D Scanner though training can be given.

 

 

* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

 

 

* Previous P.C experience would be advantageous

 

 

  1. Experience

 

* Experience using measuring equipment

 

* Experience of SAP system and gauge calibration would be advantageous

 

 

  1. General Requirements

 

Work in a day shift pattern (Subject to change)

 

Comfortable working on own initiative and making decisions

 

Must be flexible & willing to work within other areas of Inspection if required
