During 15 intense and exciting months, our Operations Graduate Program will give you a holistic view of our operational and logistic activities, including both the local and global perspective. You will be working with the technologies of tomorrow, building the products of the future – electric, connected and automated. In parallel, you will grow as a person, through individual and team development sessions.

  
You will have a permanent position from day one, with a manager and mentor to support you. You will experience several local and international on the job-rotations and work on business critical projects developing your competencies for tomorrow. You will take a deep dive into some specific areas of our business such as manufacturing, health and safety, quality, and continuous improvements, while also learning about the end-to-end supply chain, aftermarket parts and our remanufacturing operations.


In addition, you will gather with other program participants to take part in trainings and events designed to help you grow into your future career at the Volvo Group. We offer the opportunity for you to be part of our digital transformation, applying new technologies to connect and automate our processes. Together we work with AI, data science, machine learning, circular systems, virtual manufacturing and more, to build our full electric or autonomous products.

What you will do

 

At the Group Trucks Operation Plant in Ghent, we build around 200 heavy-duty trucks per day. Guided by Continuous Improvement, the assembly plant provides a challenging working environment where our Customers’ Success is our number one priority. We are proud to deliver high quality trucks built with passion. 

 

To be ready for our future we will invest in automation for Goods Receiving, Warehousing (renewal of automatic box storage & study 2D shuttle system for deep stow) & Transports (AGV for horizontal & vertical movements, indoor & outdoor). As a Logistics Automation Engineer you will become part of determining the future way of working within logistics.

 

You will become part of the logistics engineering department, where engineers give their best every day and make sure the necessary parts are available on time. This way, we guarantee smooth production with as few disruptions as possible. The team consists out of various roles: logistics engineers, packaging engineers, project coordinators, coordinator transport & flow optimization, business analyst,… They are leading the logistics innovation in a most dynamic environment, where passionate people help to build the factory of the future and cooperation is key!

Who are you?

 

As Logistics Automation engineer  you will be responsible for researching, developing and implementing automated solutions within logistic operations. You will collaborate cross-functionally (IT, Maintenance, the logistics team) and with external partners to develop customized solutions and ensure smooth integration into existing logistics processes.

 

  • You have strong communication skills and feel comfortable in working with a diverse cross-functional team. Your fluent in Dutch and English
  • You have an analytical mindset
  • You are action-oriented and result-driven. You enjoy having several tasks in progress at the same time where you can act quickly, and you also participate in long-term projects.
  • You are resilient and you challenge the status-quo. You are motivated by constantly developing yourself and your environment.
  • You known what the latest trends and advancements are in logistics automation
  • You have knowledge of lean manufacturing & process optimization
  • You have a master in Engineering
