Part of Volvo Group Trucks Purchasing division, the Sheet Metal team is constituted of 15 buyers based in France, Sweden and India, dedicated to secure the delivery of competitive, reliable and sustainable Metal components to our wordwild footprint (Europe, North America, South Ameria, Australie ...)

Our team is driven by the willingness to support each other in the challenges we face, share best practices, and achieve our goals together.

We are looking for an apprentice Commodity Buyer able to reinforce our team from August 31st 2026.

We are located in Saint Priest (France) well connected to Lyon’s public transportation.

The apprenticeship duration and modalities could be adjusted based on your school’s constraints.

 

What could be your main tasks?

  • Manage a portfolio of 3 or 4 suppliers (price negotiations, risk/opportunity management, delivery and quality performance…)
  • Handle the goblal process for product change request (PCR)
  • Benchmark the current suppliers for potential price savings, to mitigate coming risks and resource the parts when needed.
  • Propose & promote ideas to improve the CO2 Footprint of our supply chain
  • Contribute to the segment strategies with your Segment Leader (optimization, rationalization…)

  • We are looking for a strong and flexible team player, eager to learn and improve.
  • You have a can-do approach: you have a positive mindset, high level of energy, and you are ready to tackle challenges,
  • You like to do business, demonstrate superior communication skills and comfortable in cross-functional and multi-cultural set-up,
  • You are fluent in English,
  • You enjoy managing many parallel activities and you have a target-oriented approach,
  • You are following an engineering / business school / Purchasing Master education
  • Former experience in Purchasing, technical background and automotive experience are a plus
