What you’ll do
As part of the European Medium Duty Business Unit (EMD BU) and our Chassis Development Team, you’ll contribute to developing high-quality chassis solutions supporting both internal combustion and electric trucks.

You'll work in the chassis structure technical area, designing components such as crossmembers, underrun protection systems, towing devices, cabin suspension systems, tilting mechanisms, and other vital parts for transport adaptation and body builder interfaces.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying product requirements and technical specifications
  • Developing and selecting design concepts
  • Planning and supporting validation & verification activities
  • Adapting and releasing designs based on test results, FEA reports, supplier feedback, and manufacturing input
  • Contributing to problem-solving activities based on testing, customer feedback, or field reports

You will work in close collaboration with teams and stakeholders across France, Sweden, India, Brazil, and other Volvo Group entities.

Your future team
You’ll join a team of 30 passionate engineers specialized in chassis development for our medium-duty truck range—covering structural, suspension, brake control, and cooling systems, both for traditional and electric vehicles.

Who you are
You’re a curious and solutions-driven mechanical engineer, who enjoys working in a dynamic, international environment.

We believe you bring:

  • A Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the automotive or transport industry
  • Strong proficiency in CREO CAD and a solid understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • A practical mindset with strong knowledge of sheet metal and welded component design, as well as bolted assembly principles
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills in both English and French
  • The ability to adapt quickly, manage priorities, and work proactively across multicultural teams

What we offer

  • A competitive compensation and benefits package
  • Flexible hybrid working (up to 2 days remote per week)
  • A global environment fostering innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning
  • Opportunities to influence the design and development of future transport solutions
  • Career growth within a responsible and forward-thinking organization
