What you will do
At Volvo Group Purchasing you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large.
As an experienced attorney, you will provide expert advice on restructuring, reorganization and insolvency matters of our suppliers, with a focus on Private Equity partnerships:
- Actively lead supplier insolvency, restructuring and bankruptcy matters. Focus on supporting supplier M&A activities to ensure business continuity.
- Assess the private equity (PE) landscape to facilitate and strengthen Volvo-PE partnerships, aiming to support suppliers facing or nearing insolvency.
- Draft and negotiate template and bespoke agreements to facilitate supplier restructuring and associated change of control matters and address supply chain risk issues.
- Prepare analyses of relevant insolvency and other relevant laws in the context of supplier financial distress.
- Provide counselling to business stakeholders in connection with supplier disputes and negotiation of supply agreements.
- Support pro-active risk management initiatives within Volvo Group with legal and financial expertise, including drafting and updating contract templates, in particular with respect to supplier restructuring and financial risk mitigation matters.
- Coordinate with legal counsels within Trucks Purchasing as well as from other business areas of the Volvo Group around the world on various legal matters, in particular insolvency and restructuring matters and associated change of control situations.
- Represent the Supplier Financial Risk & Restructuring (SFR) team in senior management forums within Volvo.
This permanent role must be located in Lyon (FR) or Gothenburg (SW).
Your future team
You will report to the Head of Supplier Financial Risk & Restructuring (SFR) within the Business Controlling group at Volvo Trucks Purchasing. SFR is responsible for: (a) monitoring the financial risks posed by the Volvo Group’s suppliers; (b) assessing the practical ramifications of those risks; (c) proactively pursuing, contributing to and evaluating the feasibility of restructuring solutions for certain distressed suppliers to ensure Volvo’s continued supply of parts and to protect Volvo’s financial interests; and (d) reactively responding to financial crisis situations, including in bankruptcy and pre-bankruptcy processes and procedures. The Restructuring team comprises legal, financial, M&A, consultancy, and other professionals with broad based experience in financial risk assessment, restructuring and distressed matters.
Who are you?

- 5-10+ years legal experience.
- Relevant bar admission.
- Experience negotiating and drafting, among other things, accommodation agreements, continuation agreements, collateral documents, restructuring agreements, and other agreements relevant to companies in financial distress.
- Experience with Private Equity and / or Venture Capital
- Experience in driving restructuring processes.
- Excellent English and home country communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Sound financial knowledge, including M&A matters.
Other Desirable Competencies
- Experience with litigation matters, particularly insolvency litigation and emergency (e.g., injunctive, preliminary, and other) litigation.
- Experience in the automotive sector.
- Knowledge of other European languages.
- Prior experience working for multi-national organizations.
- Experience with procurement processes.
