Managing Prototypes of tomorrow's technology
Are you engaged in everything you do and desire to manage the prototypes of our future products? If yes – then Product Build is the right place for you.
The Product Build department provides expertise to the engineering and manufacturing functions in the realization of the prototypes. Prototypes vehicles or components that are key to validate the quality and features of our future vehicles.
Located in the major R&D centers of the Volvo Group around the world, our core activities include the definition of the prototype vehicles, purchasing, procurement and logistics. The department is responsible to drive end to end prototypes activities while securing QDCF.
We are looking for two Project Managers.
What you will do
As a Project Manager, you will play a key role in the management of Prototype Vehicles throughout their lifecycle. By working closely with engineering, factories and purchasing organizations, you will ensure that prototype vehicles meet the needs of vehicle validation plans. Your main challenge? Secure the lead time to carry out the tests. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of experts (prototype engineers, buyers, logisticians, etc.) and manage the performance of your team from a QDCF point of view.
As an experienced Project Manager, you will ensure the application of project management practices, drive continuous improvement activities to improve our processes and support digital transformation. This includes developing collaboration across sites, promoting alignment of ways of working and sharing best practices.
Your main activities
- Transversal and Stakeholder Management: Be the privileged point of contact for Engineering, Operations, and those responsible for the validation and verification plans
- Management of the industrialization of Prototypes: Define and coordinate key activities with your project team. You will lead project reviews related to the definition, planning, procurement and delivery of prototype parts.
- Budget and Resources Management: Define, monitor and optimize development costs (hours, and material cost), while securing the necessary resources.
- Problem Solving: Proactively challenge the different business lines to respect the schedule, remove the sticking points and make the necessary decisions within your scope of responsibility

We believe you have the following knowledge/experience:
- 6+ years of experience in Project Management
- Automotive OEM or Tier 1 Supplier industry
- Solid networking abilities and communication skills in a global and multicultural environment.
- Strong culture in continuous improvement and change management
- Fluent in English
