If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! Mack Trucks is seeking a Product Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Salem, VA.

What you will do

As an Product Mechanical Engineering Intern you will be working in a team you will work with a team of professional experts supportin our Mack Medium Duty project in all aspects related to the Cab and Chassis systems. 


You will get the opportunity to understand and get hands on experience in simulation related to components, systems, and complete truck.  By the end of the internship you will have gained a strong understanding and experience in different areas related to simulation analysis.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Learning about developing, coordinating and leading complex mechanical engineering tasks to achieve department goals while ensuring quality and timelines.
  • Applying engineering principles to projects from concept planning to completion.
  • Assisting in meeting project cost constraints, deadlines, and objectives.
  • Determining root causes and design solutions for quality issues.
  • Learning about simulation software based on area of focus.
  • Performing simulation analysis under the guidance of a Mentor.

Mack Medium Duty Engineering is part of the global Volvo Trucks Technology & Industrial Vehicle Engineering development organization.

 

Vehicle Engineering secures our customers’ success by leading and developing of the Volvo Trucks North America and Mack vehicles.  As product engineers we develop the most attractive and profitable Heavy & Medium Duty trucks solutions in the industry. We work as one development team: supporting each other to secure delivery according to decided product plan, and we proactively recommend new technologies for future customer needs.

Who are you?

You are a Mechanical Engineering student that is prepared to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment, gaining experience and knowledge in various aspects of engineering. As a valued member of the engineering team within Mack Medium Duty, you will have the opportunity to work directly with the engineers in the department.  TTI’s values collaboration and life-long learning and our goal is to contribute to your development while providing you an opportunity to work in a business environment within the manufacturing industry.  

Required: 

  • Must be enrolled and pursuing a degree in (Mechanical Engineering or related program) at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies.
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher.
  • Summer interns may work up to 40 hours per week.

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $17.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
