Role Summary

  • Partner with Sales team, importers and bodybuilders across SEA to win profitable VT truck business by translating customer needs into compliant technical solutions.
  • Lead pre-sales technical engagement (discovery, configuration, special solutions, tenders/RFQs, demos and workshops), ensure quote/offer technical accuracy, and provide a strong feedback loop to Product Management and Engineering.
  • Travel within the region is expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own technical pre-sales engagement for VT opportunities across SEA: requirement discovery, solution workshops and technical qualification.
  • Translate customer requirements into vehicle configuration and technical specifications; propose optimal solutions that balance performance, compliance, delivery and cost.
  • Develop special solutions and adaptations with internal engineering; define scope, assumptions, technical requirements and risks.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations and customer trainings (end customers, distributors, body builders and internal sales teams).
  • Support tenders/RFQs: produce compliant technical responses, validate offer content, and ensure alignment with quality and governance requirements.
  • Estimate effort, lead time and cost impact for configuration changes and special solutions; support pricing discussions with facts and assumptions.
  • Coordinate homologation/compliance inputs with relevant functions to ensure offerings meet local country regulations.
  • Maintain accurate product data, specifications and configurations in Vehicle Sales Systems; keep CRM opportunity technical notes and key documents updated.
  • Capture customer feedback, field issues and competitor insights; synthesize into actionable inputs for Product Management, Engineering and Marketing.
  • Enable the regional sales organization through structured training, sales tools and playbooks to improve product understanding and win rate.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Automotive preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in pre-sales / sales engineering / application engineering within commercial vehicles, heavy equipment or industrial solutions.
  • Strong consultative selling skills: discovery, translating needs into technical solutions, and influencing decision makers.
  • Ability to structure and communicate complex technical topics clearly (presentations, workshops, written responses).
  • Commercial acumen: cost/effort estimation, understanding of margin drivers, and disciplined assumptions management.
  • Project coordination skills to manage multi-stakeholder deliverables across Sales, Engineering, Compliance and Supply.
  • Customer- and partner-facing experience (including distributor networks and body builders preferred).
  • Proficiency with CRM and sales/configuration systems; Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Power BI are a plus.
  • Fluent English required; additional SEA languages (e.g., Thai, Vietnamese, Bahasa Indonesia/Melayu) are an advantage.
  • Based in Malaysia. Willingness to travel across SEA as required.
