What you will do

At Volvo you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. You will: 

Key Responsibilities
Sourcing & Supplier Management
•    Conduct supplier scouting, market analysis, and supplier evaluations in Asia, with a strong focus on the Chinese supplier market.
•    Lead sourcing activities, including RFQs, cost analysis, negotiations, and supplier selection, aligned with global commodity strategies.
•    Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance in cost, quality, delivery, compliance, sustainability, and innovation.
•    Support risk assessments, capacity evaluations, and mitigation planning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
•    Work closely with Volvo Penta Engineering for technical alignment and early supplier involvement.
•    Collaborate with commodity buyers at VCE  for shared components and harmonized strategies.
•    Maintain a strong interface with the global commodity owners and Purchasing Directors in Gothenburg, securing alignment on all business and strategy matters.
•    Engage and support the dotted-line reporting structure related to the Volvo Penta organization in India.
Project & Operational Responsibilities
•    Support project sourcing, industrialization phases, and supplier readiness for Start of Production.
•    Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives with suppliers.
•    Ensure compliance with Volvo Group processes, policies, and sustainability standards

Required Qualifications

•      Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.

•      Minimum 3 years of purchasing experience, preferably within:

o     Batteries

o     Electrical motors

o     Connectivity/electronic components

o     Automotive or industrial manufacturing

•      Experience with supplier scouting and sourcing activities in China.

•      Strong analytical and negotiation skills.

•      Proven ability to work independently and handle a diverse set of responsibilities.

•      Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications

•      Experience working within a global matrix organization, ideally in the automotive or industrial sector.

•      Familiarity with cost breakdown analysis and technical understanding of electrical components.

•      Knowledge of Volvo Group purchasing processes is considered an advantage.

•      Ability to collaborate effectively across regions, cultures, and functions.
