What you will do
Our IT Support Specialist role is responsible for providing IT support directly to business end users. The role will support the installation, implementation, operation, maintenance, and support of all information systems, related processes & associated technology of the business.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide agreed upon day-to-day factory support and end user on-site support.
- Taking ownership of support requests through to resolution, using remote management tools, desk side assistance and/or the telephone.
- Ensuring all support requests are successfully and accurately identified, categorized, prioritized, diagnosed and managed in VBS system.
- Configuring and deploying user IT assets, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices and software.
- Ensuring all user IT assets are secured with latest updates for the operating system, anti-virus and malware protection.
- Maintaining the asset inventory to ensure all equipment and software is accounted for.
- Maintains daily user support following ITS processes using the Global Volvo IT Systems and framework,
- Installs, repairs, and provides assistance with computer systems by replacing network devices and computer components, diagnosing hardware and software problems, installing and upgrading hardware and software, and providing support and training to end users.
- Ensuring assets are maintained and reviewed on a regular basis to ensure they are functioning effectively.
- Contribute to the identification and escalation of problems in supported services and solutions.
- Contribute to knowledge management and the documentation of errors and known workarounds.
- Communicate with all customers, stakeholders and wider ITS group on project status and appropriate maintenance or installation timelines.
- Follows the requirements concerning Information Security described in Volvo Security Handbook.
- Work to ensure relevant KPI’s are met for the product or assignment.
- Facilitate and support audits / site assessments ensuring that all preparation is completed, and any corrective actions are closed out in-line with recommended timeline.

Experience and Qualifications
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience & training.
- Significant experience of working in the end user support area.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with: PC Hardware/Software, LANS/WANS, MS Windows, Server environment, MS Exchange, backup systems, network/workstation peripherals, print servers, firewalls, spam & antivirus software etc.
- Experience of working in a customer focused IT environment.
- Proven ability to define, follow and implement agreed deliverables, timelines and standards.
