As a Buyer, you will be responsible for supporting and delivering Quality, Sustainability, Cost, and Capacity (QSCC) objectives with our supply partners. You will support development of commodity strategies for the Shippensburg site and collaborate across a global, cross-functional network to address purchasing challenges and improve supply chain performance.
This position is based in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania and reports to the Head of Site Purchasing North America.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, negotiate, and execute sourcing strategies that improve supply chain performance, product quality, innovation, and overall value.
- Lead supplier negotiations within assigned commodities.
- Support QSCC objectives through effective supplier management and collaboration.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement supply chain strategies.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate supplier and supply chain risks.
- Monitor supplier capacity and proactively address potential production or aftermarket supply constraints.
- Forecast cost trends and support cost management initiatives within assigned commodities.
- Execute daily purchasing activities related to production orders, logistics, and supplier financial transactions.
- Contribute to process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.

In this role, you will bring the following:
Required Knowledge, Experience, and Education:
- 3+ years of purchasing experience (including supplier relationship management, sourcing, and negotiations) or equivalent relevant internal experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in heavy manufacturing or a related industry.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Solid business acumen with an agile and proactive working style.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base salary range is set at $72,600 - $89,700, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
