About the Role
Job summary:
The internship role gives students the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment and to support/promote the graduate's career goals through contact with professionals in their field. The internship experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group by working on important and innovative projects. Internships are structured learning experiences where interns/co-ops and our full-time professionals work together on projects within their selected organization. The internship allows students to integrate knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and Volvo (BA/BU).
Main Tasks/Responsibilities/Authorities:
- Complete various data entry and analysis tasks to provide information for the logistics management team
- Review and develop packaging instructions for materials using numerous systems
- Work with suppliers to improve their performance
- Work directly with production to improve material presentation and material flows
- Work in Continuous improvement activities (Line balancing, Andon, reduction of defects, waste elimination, etc.)
- Tooling development to improve logistics processes
- Lay out updated and improvement (CAD)
- Obtain information from the MRP system to improve storing and ordering processes.
- Define min and max Inventory quantities.

- Production systems operation
Required knowledge and experience:
- Applicants must be currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours (60 preferred) prior to starting the internship
- Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.
- Summer Interns may work up to 40 hours per week.
