What you will do

We’re seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to join our dynamic Operations team! In this role, you’ll work on optimizing our logistics flow to meet customer needs and contribute to the success of our production teams. If you’re passionate about improving processes, embracing new technologies, and solving problems, we’d love to hear from you!

As part of the Manufacturing Engineering Team, you’ll play a key role in supporting and collaborating with engineers and material handling teams. You’ll approach your work with a holistic, systems-thinking mindset that focuses on both customer satisfaction and business success. Guided by the three core principles of the Volvo CE philosophy—Flow, Continuous Improvement, and Perform & Develop—you will help drive positive change across our organization

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Complete various data entry and analysis tasks to provide information for the management team
  • Develop and update package instructions
  • Drive special projects related to logistics improvements (e.g., warehouse optimization, layout improvements, waste elimination, etc.)
  • Participate in tooling development to improve our processes
  • Update and improve layout using CAD
  • Work actively to support our engineering group on continuous improvement tasks
  • Work directly with production to improve material presentation

Who are you?

  • The candidate will be enrolled and pursuing a degree in Engineering (e.g., Industrial, Mechanical, etc.) at an accredited university
  • The candidate will have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours prior to the start of the internship
  • The candidate will maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.75
  • Summer interns may work up to 40 hours per week

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $16.00 - $46.00.The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
