Who we are
The internship role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment, and to support/promote the graduate's career goals through contact with professionals in their field of study. The internship experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group by working on important and innovative projects. Internships are structured learning experiences where interns/co-ops and our full time professionals work together on projects within their selected organization. The internship allows students to integrate knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and Volvo (BA/BU).
Job Responsibilities:
- Support the fabrication team in various tasks, including machining, welding, and paint.
- Assist and learn from the manufacturing engineers in their tasks
- Safety activities
- Insourcing business case development
- Problem Solving (QRPS)
- Continuous improvement activities
- Product and process development
- Develop and update fabrication processes (Work instruction, manufacturing check list, quality inspection, etc…)
- Work directly with IE/ME to validate/update time standards
- Drive special projects related to fabrication improvements (Line balancing, Andon, reduction of defects, waste elimination, etc…)
- Complete various data entry and analysis tasks to provide information for management team
- Lay out updated and improvement (CAD)
Learning Opportunities
- Gain hands-on experience in fabrication processes.
- Learn about quality control and safety standards in manufacturing.
- Develop skills in using various fabrication tools and equipment.
- Implementing automation and digitalization in fabrication
Qualifications
- Must be currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Welding engineering, or similar at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies.
- Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75
- Basic knowledge of fabrication techniques, proficiency in using hand and power tools, and familiarity with CAD software.
- Must be enrolled full time in school throughout the duration of the internship.
- Fall interns may work up to 30 hours per week

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $17.00 - $46.00.The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
