What you will do

This position is within the Virtual Product Development (VPD) team in Shippensburg. You will have the opportunity to work directly with the Virtual Product Development team in Shippensburg. This team develops innovative tools and methods to produce effective machine and machine components that improve our customer experience. The innovative development is based on computer models, simulation, and Rapid Controls Prototyping (RCP). You will hands-on develop rapid controls prototyping software and electric harness/PCB, hardware in the loop (HIL), simulation and analysis, and advanced development projects.

 

Position Description:
• Develop and integrate electrical and electronics systems in support rapid controls prototyping, including complete testing and analysis.
• Hands-on develop RCP software and electric harness/PCB, hardware in the loop (HIL), simulation including basic mechanical 3-D modeling and printing.
• Potentially create, expand, and evaluate integrated electric/hydraulic/engine machine (1-D) models and/or 3-D multibody/parametric dynamic models for use in machine simulations for product development.
• Create reports summarizing test and simulation results and collaborate with VPD and Product Development (PD) teams to clearly communicate results
• Investigate and develop new system dynamics models from basic physics principles and successfully integrate them into machine system dynamic models.
• Utilize model-based design in collaboration with our software development engineers to iterate faster in product development.
• Create reports summarizing simulation assumptions, methods, and results.

Who are you?

Education/Professional Qualifications:
• Candidate must be actively enrolled and pursuing a degree at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies. 

• Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.

• Fall interns may work up to 30 hours per week

• The preferred candidate is pursuing of a graduate level degree but undergraduate candidates with demonstrated strong hands-on experience in electrical/electronic RCP will be definitely considered.
• Understanding of the fundamentals of electromagnetics, electrical, electronics, mechatronics, vibrations and can create simulation models and integrate them with Rapid Controls Prototyping.
• High Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and RCP using Speedgoat or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with testing instrumentation, data acquisition, breadboarding, and PCB creation.
• Exposed to modeling and simulation, validation, and correlation with test data.
• Capable of conceiving mechatronic components, creating their system dynamics models, synthesizing and rapid control prototyping.
• Understanding of electric/hydraulic and control system diagrams to create dynamic system models.
• Experience with testing, instrumentation, rapid control prototyping is a must.

• Strong ability to communicate and work effectively with others is a must.
• Strong analytical and independent problem-solving skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills
