We’re seeking a Logistics Engineer to join our dynamic Operations team! In this role, you will orchestrate the optimization of our logistics flow through the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies, including autonomous material handling, robotics, and advanced data analytics. You will play a critical role in supporting production teams by bridging physical material movement with digital traceability. As part of the Manufacturing Engineering Team, you’ll play a key role in supporting and collaborating with engineers and material handling teams. You’ll approach your work with a holistic, systems-thinking mindset that focuses on both customer satisfaction and business success. Guided by the three core principles of the Volvo CE philosophy—Flow, Continuous Improvement, and Perform & Develop—you will help drive positive change across our organization.

Your impact

Simulation & Virtual Logistics:

  • Design, optimize, and validate logistics flows using Simulation and Virtual Manufacturing tools to test material routes and warehouse layouts before physical implementation.
  • Use digital modeling to identify potential bottlenecks in the supply chain and optimize staging areas in a risk-free virtual environment.


Automation:

  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation in material handling, such as AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) or AMRs, and low-cost automation. 
  • Define technical requirements for automated handling and work effectively with Global Networks on development.

 

Agile & Project Management:

  • Champion logistics projects from inception to completion using an Agile mindset and iterative sprints for technology deployments.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams to ensure timely outcomes, monitoring progress and adjusting plans as needed.


Continuous Improvement:

  • Collect and analyze data to measure and understand logistics performance.
  • Seek out opportunities to improve efficiency and streamline logistics processes.
  • Implement changes that reduce waste and improve lead time.
  • Work closely with the team to develop new strategies for improvement.


Problem Solving:

  • Identify logistics-related challenges and resolve them quickly with creative, thoughtful solutions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to find the best possible solutions.
  • Use your innovative thinking to overcome obstacles.

Who are you?

Required knowledge, experience, and education:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering/Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing processes within the heavy equipment industry.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD.

  • Ability to lead through influence and collaboration, managing the ambiguity of new technology deployments.

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base salary range is set at $83,500 - $103,100, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered,  is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
