About this position
Job Summary:
Through active interaction and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, you will make sure we have solid and up to date sourcing strategies for the sub-commodities you are responsible for. Thanks to your high competence in managing relationships, you build strong networks and ecosystems that secure both stable and competitive operational performance as well as good understanding of the trends and needs of the future.
You will be involved in the strategic sourcing process, giving support in sourcing decisions in projects and you will of course be leading negotiations, both commercial and legal.
Your primary focus in this role will be the sourcing for our Shippensburg plant, but you will also support and occasionally lead global activities.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Lead and support in the creation of sourcing strategies for selected sub-commodities in close cooperation with purchasing, technology, operations, product platforms and other stakeholders.
- Lead the deployment of the sourcing strategies
- Scout for new suppliers and new business opportunities
- Build and maintain good relationships
- Take active part in the work for the Hydraulic commodity team
- Responsibility to optimize products and processes to achieve a long-term contribution to Volvo CE’s improvements in quality, sustainability, capacity and cost (QSCC).
- Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers including implementation of full agreement packages.
- Occasional travel will be required, mainly throughout USA, but also to overseas locations.
Who are you?

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with construction or heavy equipment industry.
- A high degree of technical knowledge and proven strong negotiating skills is a great advantage.
- Experience in working with Hydraulics is a plus.
Additionally, you have great cooperative and communication skills, as you have been dealing with both internal and external contacts in previous roles. Others may refer to you as a leader, and you are not afraid of taking on responsibilities and standing up for yourself and influencing others. You are used to working in a multinational and multicultural environment and thus, language skills other than English would be a bonus.
You have a strategic mindset and as a person you are target-oriented and believe there is always room for improvement. You are self-going, organized, and structured, and enjoy taking on complex tasks and challenges. When you come across things you do not know or have experience with, you see this as an excellent opportunity for learning and personal growth.

For this position, the base salary range is set at $96,000 - $118,500, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
