Overview

Director, Commercial Solutions, eMobility & Partnerships, Asia Pacific

Volvo Bus Asia Pacific (APAC) is a leading cluster within Volvo Bus Corporation, responsible for vehicle and services sales, partnerships with importers, customers and body builders, and the overall growth and profitability of the Volvo Bus business across the region.

 

Reporting to the Vice President, Volvo Bus APAC, the Director, Commercial Solutions, eMobility & Partnerships Asia Pacific is responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy for Services Sales, electromobility, connected services and innovative business solutions across the region.

 

The role leads strategic partnerships, supports key tenders and projects, and drives commercial excellence, compliance and sustainability initiatives to strengthen Volvo Bus APAC's competitive position and long-term growth. This position is a member of the Volvo Bus APAC Management Team.

Main Responsibilities & Authorities

Commercial Solutions

  • Lead the development, commercialization and deployment of, connected services and commercial solution offerings across APAC.
  • Develop and drive commercial strategies that drive growth, profitability and a premium customer experience.
  • Identify new business opportunities, increase sales penetration of existing solutions, and address gaps in the service portfolio.
  • Drive the commercial development, adoption and growth of service agreements across APAC markets and distributors.
  • Support markets in customer engagement, sales development and business growth initiatives.
  • Provide input to tenders, contract reviews, service market readiness, and new market or product introductions.
  • Establish targets, KPIs, reporting and capability-building initiatives, including services sales training across the region.

Strategic Partnerships

  • Identify, develop and manage regional partnerships that support Volvo Bus APAC's business objectives.
  • Build strategic collaborations in zero-emission mobility, charging infrastructure, finance, project management and related industry ecosystems.
  • Lead joint initiatives with key partners that advance Volvo's market position and long-term growth ambitions across APAC.

Strategy & Market Development

  • Contribute to shaping and executing the long-term strategy for Volvo Bus APAC, ensuring alignment with business performance, customer satisfaction and brand objectives.
  • Partner with market teams to develop growth opportunities, support emerging transportation projects and pursue profitable market expansion.
  • Act as the regional voice of the customer, ensuring market and commercial requirements influence global product and services strategies.
  • Promote alignment across markets on sustainability, environmental initiatives, government relations and strategic priorities.

Projects, Governance & Compliance

  • Provide leadership and project management support for strategic initiatives, major tenders and business-critical projects across APAC.
  • Support government relations activities, trade delegations and new energy projects throughout the region.
  • Ensure adherence to Volvo's Code of Conduct, UN principles, cybersecurity requirements and other regulatory obligations.

Critical Competencies & Experience

The successful candidate is an accomplished leader with significant regional experience in a multinational environment and a proven ability to drive commercial growth through collaboration and strategic partnerships.

  • At least 10 years of progressive industry experience at a senior management level, preferably within the automotive, mobility or transportation sectors.
  • Strong commercial drive and ability to understand the complete value chain.
  • Operational experience in the commercial vehicles industry, including customer engagement, tendering, key account management, industrial operations and/or general management.
  • Strategic, forward-thinking and customer-focused mindset.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver complex, high-value projects with quality and precision.
  • Strong strategic planning capabilities with the ability to translate vision into execution and measurable outcomes.
  • Proven track record of working successfully with body builders, distributors, partners and cross-functional global stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, build relationships and navigate complex stakeholder environments across cultures and geographies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to inspire, influence and challenge constructively.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule and undertake frequent international travel.

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of the commercial vehicles industry
  • Retail and dealer development competence.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
