At Distribution Center (DC) Singapore, we deliver to our dealers all around Southeast Asia and beyond for our Volvo brands - Volvo Trucks, Volvo Buses, Volvo Construction Equipment, and Volvo Penta. The Position – Order & Shipping Manager, DC Singapore
We are looking for a values-driven leader to head our Order & Shipping Team at DC Singapore. The role will actively manage and continuously improve the interfaces with dealers, importers, and our partners within the commercial organization of Volvo Group on behalf of Service Market Logistics in Southeast Asia, based in Singapore. The position holder plays an active managerial role to coach, develop, and manage a high performing Order & Shipping team to work with a wide span of activities ranging from order management, customer interface activities, handling of discrepancies, the flow from pick-up of parts from CDC/Suppliers into DC Singapore, the flow of outbound deliveries from DC Singapore. This position also works cross-functionally within Group Trucks Operations and other Volvo organizations - locally, regionally, and globally. This position reports to Head of DC Singapore and is a member of the DC Singapore Management Team and Service Center & Transport within Lyon & International region.
Main Activities and Responsibilities
The Order & Shipping Manager is responsible for leading the Order & Shipping team at DC Singapore, ensuring the efficient management of daily operations and driving a culture of continuous improvement.
- This role plays a key part in meeting customer expectations, improving lead times, and enhancing overall satisfaction across markets served by the distribution center.
- Enhancing the relationship and network with the dealers and Business Area to achieve customer success and proactively develop services
- Managing the service center team to best support the dealers for any first line issues and act as the main escalation point
- Collaborate with transport analysts and Purchasing teams to ensure that the transport and freight costs are accurate and market competitive
- Working closely with shipping and operations team to secure parts delivery quality and on-time shipments
- Monitor and manage the performance of the appointed transport logistics providers
- Ingrain Volvo Performance System (VPS) as the culture or way of working in the team
- Drive continuous improvements such as process automation and digitalization
- Support, coach and guide team members to develop their best potential and prepare them for their own professional future
Essential Experience, Skills and Competencies
Key competencies we are looking for:
- Operational Excellence: Strong understanding of logistics, shipping, and order fulfillment processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Experience with CI (e.g., Lean, VPS) and a proven ability to drive change.
- Customer Focus: Committed to delivering quality service and proactively managing expectations.
- Leadership: Effective in managing and developing people, fostering a positive and accountable team culture.
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally and across different cultures.
Your experience and qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in logistics or order fulfillment roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
- Experience working in a regional or multinational environment is preferred.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
