Bachelor thesis A Financial Framework for Prioritizing Online Condition Monitoring Implementation
Skövde, SE, 541 87
Help Shape the Future of Smart Maintenance. As manufacturing becomes increasingly data-driven, organizations are looking for smarter ways to improve equipment reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and maximize production availability. Online condition monitoring is a key enabler of this transformation, helping businesses move from reactive maintenance toward predictive and proactive strategies.
We are now looking for two Bachelor students who want to explore how economic and operational data can be used to make better investment decisions regarding condition monitoring technologies.
Thesis Scope
The aim of this thesis is to investigate how online condition monitoring systems can be prioritized and implemented from an economic perspective. The project will focus on developing a decision support tool that helps identify where condition monitoring can create the greatest business value.
The thesis is expected to:
- Develop a framework for evaluating condition monitoring opportunities across manufacturing equipment
- Assess machine criticality, maintenance costs, production availability, and Remaining Useful Life (RUL)
- Combine technical and business-related data into a structured decision support tool
- Identify where condition monitoring solutions can generate the highest value
- Recommend approaches for improving maintenance planning, reducing costs, and increasing operational availability
This project offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering, maintenance, operations, and business economics while contributing to the future of smart manufacturing.
