Head of Volvo Group Skövde Plant
Skövde, SE, 541 87
Transport is at the core of modern society. It connects people, businesses, and communities. At Volvo Group, we are committed to shaping that future through sustainable transport solutions, next-generation technologies, and world-class manufacturing.
With us, that ambition becomes real every day. The Skövde plant is one of Volvo Group’s most strategically important industrial sites and our main site for producing complete heavy duty-engines. As well as components for tomorrow’s transportations systems, such as batteries and e-axles for heavy duty-vehicles. The industrial processes consist of casting, machining, assembly, and logistics. It is a place where deep manufacturing expertise meets innovation, and where the future of industrial production is being shaped. The products and capabilities developed here play a critical role in Volvo Group’s global success and in our journey toward a more sustainable future.
We are now looking for a leader with the vision, energy, and courage to take this important site forward as the Head of Skövde Plant. This is a unique chance and rare opportunity to shape the future of one of Volvo Group’s most important industrial operations. Is it you? Take the next step and apply now!
Role Overview:
We are looking for a leader that will drive the cultural and technology change journey that we are on. Building trust through involvement, collaboration, and the development of people. Creating ownership, initiative and autonomy through serving the organization and using our Volvo Performance System (VPS) as an enabler for success.
This is more than a plant leadership role. It’s an opportunity to lead one of Volvo Group’s most important industrial operations, to influence thousands of people through your leadership, and to leave a lasting mark on a site that matters deeply to the company’s future.
As Head of Volvo Group Skövde Plant, you will lead a world-class manufacturing site with around 4,000 employees and a central role in Volvo Group’s industrial footprint. It is our main site for producing heavy-duty engines, including casting, machining, and assembly. This is a position for a leader who wants to make a real difference, shape the future of manufacturing, and inspire an organization that matters.
Skövde is not just a plant. It is a strategic capability, a community of skilled people, and a key part of Volvo Group’s journey toward sustainable, high-performing industrial operations.
In this position you report to Head of Powertrain Industrial, and you are also a member of the Powertrain Industrial Management team supporting the overall Operational Strategy for Powertrain Industrial.
Core Responsibilities:
We are transforming our industry, and the Skövde plant has a major role to play in that transformation. Digitalization, automation, sustainability, and next-generation industrial capabilities are reshaping the way we operate. In this role, you will help define what world-class manufacturing looks like in the years ahead. You will ensure that Skövde continues to be a benchmark for operational excellence and a strong contributor to Volvo Group’s industrial strategy.
Lead and inspire the plant management team and indirect all leaders and co-workers to continue the change journey, meaning leading by example, creating trust, increasing collaboration, being visible for the employees on site and developing people and the organization.
Managing the development and implementation of VPS, ensuring ongoing development of the whole organization. Focus on growing competencies within the plant to secure efficiency and secure the plant strategies for the future. Financial budgeting and control of plant leverage initiatives and break-even targets are also part of your responsibilities.
Key success factors:
- The ability to drive changes and manage transformation. Push beyond today’s boundaries to strengthen long-term technology leadership.
- Contribute strategic leadership and business value to the Powertrain Industrial Management Team.
- The ability to engage people in the organization through exemplary leadership and common targets.
- Communication for results – meaning the ability to communicate in a way that makes the team, the co-workers and stakeholders know, feel and do the right things.
- Drive continuous improvements.
Profile:
We are looking for a senior leader with broad experience from large-scale manufacturing or industrial operations, and a proven track record of leading complex organizations through change. You combine strategic thinking with strong execution. You know how to build high-performing teams, develop leadership capability, and drive sustainable business results. You are comfortable working in a global and matrixed organization, and you communicate with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
Most of all, you lead by example. You bring integrity, courage, curiosity, and a genuine belief in the power of people. The success of this role depends on your ability to lead with presence, authenticity, and conviction. You know that great performance starts with great leadership. You build trust through involvement, and develop people by giving them confidence, accountability, and space to grow. You are a leader who can inspire senior managers, motivate large teams, and build a culture where people feel proud, respected, and committed to common goals.
You see the big picture, understanding every link in the business chain, and bringing a global perspective to everything you do. Your expertise spans global manufacturing, the commercial vehicle industry, and business analysis, keeping you closely connected to the pulse of the market.
As a motivational force, you organize, energize, and lead your team toward tomorrow’s goals. Your growth mindset means you’re a great listener, always creating new opportunities and spaces for collaboration. You are bold and challenge the status quo, spark curiosity, and encourage your team to explore innovative ways of working and seize new opportunities.
As a leader, you are an inclusive bridge builder. You empower your leadership by being curious, empathetic, and daring to innovate- a leader who inspires change.
You hold a master's degree in business, engineering or similar, and you have a proven track record of successful leadership and driving transformation. With at least 10 years of senior-level manufacturing experience, you’re ready to take on this pivotal role. Fluency in English is essential and Swedish is a plus.
