What you will do

As a Class 1 HGV Driver and Yard Operative, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations at our busy Teesside Depot. You will be responsible for delivering excellent service and support, while also managing key tasks related to depot upkeep, maintenance, and logistics.

 

This role involves both yard duties and driving responsibilities. A Class 1 HGV licence is required to drive vehicles to and from various locations, while your yard duties will ensure smooth operational flow within the depot.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure the general upkeep of the depot, including spotting and reporting risks to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Drive Class 1 vehicles to collect and deliver parts and materials to various Volvo or customer sites.

  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment, ensuring all tasks are done safely and efficiently.

  • Support with general depot activities, such as stock checks, equipment maintenance, and preparation for customer visits.

  • Collaborate with the team and apprentices on yard duties and day-to-day operational tasks.

  • Ensure all equipment is properly labeled and stock records are kept up to date.

  • Report any defects, risks, accidents, or near misses promptly.

  • Promote and follow Health & Safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all.

Who are you?

We’re looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

 

  • Class 1 HGV Driving Licence (essential).

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with internal teams and external customers.

  • Excellent attention to detail, especially in documenting and recording information.

  • A proactive, enthusiastic, and approachable attitude.

  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and tasks.
