What you will do

At Volvo Trucks you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. 

 

Purpose of the Role: 

 

Manage, Lead, and support the organization in achieving best-in-class quality performance. 
Manage, Lead, and support the organization in achieving Environmental goals.
Coach and support the various teams in the deployment of VPS Principles. 
Lead the plant in maintaining the management systems (QMS, EMS, VPS) and align with global requirements.

 

Reporting: This position reports to Manager – Quality, VPS & Environment.

 

Job Objectives: 

 

Quality Control

 

Product Quality (Online and offline processes)

  • Prepare the Quality check cards/ remark cards used at the stations and keep them updated.
  • Summarize Quality Assurance Matrix and communicate accordingly (Inputs: Defect detection systems/Andon, Product Audit).
  • Analyze data for prioritization leading towards minimizing / elimination chronic problems.
  • Apply quality tools and methods and support problem solving through a strong cross functional approach. Where needed perform first level analysis (5W1H+Containment). 
  • Evaluate the results from action taken and validate them for closure or next steps. 
  • Plan for the necessary physical resources needed to manage Quality control activities.
  • Identify and evaluate competency needs for the people working with quality tools and methods.
  • Coach & Support to the organization to grow and expand problem solving culture in the plant.

 

Campaigns and Market Claim

  • Communicate, Plan and manage internal campaign.
  • Communicate, Plan and Lead investigations of aftermarket claims.

 

Process Quality

  • Manage and maintain the Control Plan
  • Plan, Organize, Lead and Control Internal Audits. (i.e. Quality Process Review, Quality Audit Plan etc.)
  • Manage and maintain Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001.
  • Lead and participate effectively in all the relevant Operational Management Systems within the organization.  

 

Environment

  • Consolidate Environmental results for reporting (Water, Energy/CO2, Waste management hierarchy.)
  • Identify activities to improve/reduce the consumption of natural resources in line with Volvo ambitions.
  • Organizational awareness on Environmental risk assessment in line with the Aspect and Impacts.
  • Manage and maintain Environmental System in line with ISO 14001.
  • Lead and participate effectively in all the relevant Operational Management Systems within the organization. 

 

Volvo Performance System

  • Coach and support the organization in prioritization of key focus areas to improve business results.
  • Training and coaching on various quality tools and methods.
  • Lead and participate effectively in all the relevant Operational Management Systems within the organization.

Qualification & Job Experience:

 

  • Grade 12, Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • Experience in working with Quality control function in automobile or auto ancillaries for about 5 ~ 7 years.
  • Strong leadership abilities to drive commitments & agreed actions across different plant functions. 
  • Should have experience in leading cross functional teams towards Quality control actions / Improvement.
  • Should have had formal training on QC tools and also experienced in using them.
  • Expert in use of VPS reactive / preventative tools (5w+1H, QRQC, QA Matrix, 4M analysis, HERCA, SOP Etc).
