As part of the Graduate Program at Volvo Group, you will tackle real challenges from day one and contribute to the development of next-generation production solutions.

The 15-month Graduate Program combines 50% time in your home department with 50% dedicated program activities, giving you broad exposure across Volvo Group. Through local and international rotations, short-term assignments and targeted training in areas such as operations, engineering and purchasing, you will build a strong understanding of our business, brands and strategy. The program also includes direct customer exposure and encourages collaboration, knowledge-sharing and an end-to-end mindset, enabling you to contribute to transformation across the organization from day one.

Your future team
You will join the Paint Engineering team in Umeå, part of Volvo Trucks Technology Industrial Divison (TTI). We bring together production engineering, automation, production systems, quality and continuous improvement, working hands-on across traditional organizational boundaries. You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers, production, maintenance, quality and logistic teams to keep our production process moving forward.
You will become part of an experienced engineering team where knowledge sharing is important, but you will also be expected to build your own understanding. This includes conclusions and taking responsibility for moving your assignments forward.

For an ambitious engineer, this provides an opportunity to quickly develop a broad understanding of industrial production while building deep engineering competence.

How you’ll contribute
In this role, you will combine your engineering knowledge with hands-on experience from an industrial environment. You will work with real production challenges where technology, quality, automation, process performance and people come together.

From the start, you will be encouraged to challenge existing ways of working, use data to understand problems and turn your ideas into measurable improvements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive improvement: Lead and participate in improvement projects within the paint production process, from root-cause analysis to verified results.
  • Optimize and problem-solve: Apply structured methods across process optimization, production flow, quality, equipment and automation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with production, maintenance, quality, logistics and other engineering functions, taking ownership of defined assignments.
  • Innovate and grow: Contribute to industrialization and technical development, bringing new methods and technologies.

The scope and complexity of your assignments will grow as you develop in the role.

Who are you?
We are looking for someone with a strong transformation and collaborative mindset who is eager to learn, explore and understand the business. You thrive in dynamic environments, embrace new challenges and ambiguity and take ownership of your own development and growth.
With strong analytical skills, you take initiatives and drive tasks forward with determination while bringing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the team. This means that you understand both the technical details and the bigger production system. You are also comfortable working with data and using facts to support decisions.

You enjoy building relationships and leveraging a global network to create impact while working collaboratively across teams and functions. In addition, you contribute to a culture of continuous learning by actively sharing knowledge, exchanging insights and supporting the development of others.

To qualify for the Graduate program, you:

  • Have completed a bachelor or master’s degree prior to the start of the program but not more than three years ago
  • Should not have more than three years' full-time relevant working experience in the field prior to starting the program, excluding part-time work during studies
