Project Manager Industrialization

Location:

Vara, SE, 534 91

Position Type:  Professional

Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

What you will do

At Volvo Penta’s production site in Vara, we are on an exciting transformation journey to meet future demands for a more sustainable tomorrow. As Project Manager Industrialization, you will play a key role in securing industrialization for both ongoing and upcoming projects related to new products, product changes, and improvements to machines and equipment.

You will lead industrialization projects from early investigation through implementation, or act as a sub-project manager in larger initiatives. The role includes defining key activities, developing and maintaining project plans and milestones, and ensuring delivery within agreed timeframes, budgets, and quality targets. You will secure manufacturing capacity for start of production (SOP) in terms of both volume and quality, while providing clear leadership, motivation, and direction to the project team. Communication with line organizations, management, and steering committees is a natural and important part of the role.

Your future team
Volvo Penta develops world-leading engines and drive systems for marine and industrial applications. Within Operations, we produce and distribute high-quality drive systems through machining, assembly, painting, and testing. The Vara plant employs around 230 people and is an important part of Volvo Penta’s transition toward low- and zero-emission solutions.

You will belong to the Project Management department, consisting of 12 employees, which acts as a key link to Product Development and VP Manufacturing Engineering operations. The team plays a central role in accelerating our transformation and is characterized by collaboration, commitment, and a strong improvement mindset.

Who are you?

You are self-driven, solution-oriented, and an excellent communicator. Collaboration comes naturally to you, and you thrive in cross-functional environments. We believe you have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Automation, or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in project management and industrialization projects
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, automation, and equipment procurement (RFQ, FAT, SAT)
  • Skills in change management and lean principles
  • Fluency in both Swedish and English, spoken and written

What’s in it for you?

At Volvo Penta, you will be part of a global organization shaping the future of sustainable transport and power solutions. We offer a professional environment where innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement are highly valued.

You will benefit from the stability of a global company combined with the close-knit, family-like atmosphere of a smaller plant, where trust, teamwork, and individual contribution truly matter. We believe in continuous learning and development and offer access to training opportunities and long-term career growth as we continue our transformation toward a more sustainable future.
