Financial Accountant

Location:

Wacol, QLD, AU, 4076

Position Type:  Professional

Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future? If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

What you will do

As a Financial Accountant at Volvo Group Australia, you’ll be part of a high-performing finance team, playing a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting to support our operations. Reporting to the Chief Accountant, this role focuses on core statutory accounting — not management accounting — and is ideal for someone who brings strong technical expertise and thrives in a complex, fast-paced environment.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance with both local GAAP and IFRS, contributing to the integrity of our financial processes and reports. This role offers great professional exposure and development opportunities, but it also requires the ability to understand and manage detailed financial requirements across multiple business areas and stakeholders.

We’re looking for a true financial accountant — someone who’s confident with the technical side of accounting and ready to take ownership in a busy and rewarding role.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and review end of month financial reports for Volvo Group Australia, adhering to closing schedules communicated by the group.
  • Utilise Volvo Group Consolidated reporting system for reporting monthly sales, inventory and other reports
  • Conduct detailed reconciliation and analysis of the assigned general ledgers, identifying and resolving any issues or anomalies.
  • Support the reporting team in preparation of general ledger reconciliations
  • Collaborate closely with Business Controllers to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Support annual audits and stock take processes in coordination with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement procedures to enhance month-end reporting processes for efficiency and internal controls.

Who are you?

You are a qualified accounting professional with solid post-qualification experience in a commercial environment, particularly in statutory reporting and month-end processes.

  • A bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, or a related field, with a major in Accounting (or equivalent)
  • CPA or CA (ICAA) membership
  • Strong hands-on experience in financial reporting, compliance, and month-end close activities
  • A solid understanding of accounting standards and the ability to apply them in a real-world, fast-paced business setting
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at various levels
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision
  • A proactive, results-oriented mindset with a strong focus on problem-solving
  • A growth mindset — you're committed to continuous improvement and eager to keep learning and evolving

What’s in it for you?

We offer a solid package of compensation and benefits, plus you will enjoy:

  • Work with one of the world's most iconic brands and be part of a reputation that has been earned over a century.
  • Industry-leading parental leave and support
  • Benefits for applicable staff including access to Sonder (Wellbeing & Safety Partner) for employees and family members, education assistance, Service Awards, income protection, private health insurance, personal computer loans, option to purchase additional leave, additional superannuation.
  • Modern, world-class open plan office with fully electric stand-up desks, an onsite café, parental room, end-of-journey facilities and the latest equipment.
  • Free onsite parking with electric vehicle charging stations at our Wacol head office.
