This role will work with Volvo Group Trucks Purchasing (GTP) division, which is the global group function covering the purchase of automotive products and parts including aftermarket, for all truck brands in Volvo Group Trucks. The organization also covers the Indirect Products & Services (IPS) Purchasing.
What you will do
As a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE), you will manage a portfolio of suppliers and achieve the purchasing objectives in accordance with the Volvo Group Purchasing strategy and the customer’s needs. You will also perform quality assurance on purchased items for projects, to ensure the parts meet the agreed specifications.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Reviewing RFQ content and ensuring all quality demands are met
- Ensuring suppliers submission of a preliminary APQP plan prior to supplier selection
- Ensuring quality objectives are known to suppliers
- Participating in cross functional groups and ensuring critical manufacturing processes are clearly documented
- Evaluating the need for order audits to assess risks at potential suppliers
- Reviewing and identifying suppliers’ manufacturing risks and improvement potentials, ensuring actions are taken to close identified gaps
Your future team
Reporting to the Head of Automotive Purchasing, you will work in a team of 11, consisting of SQE’s and Buyers. Your team forms part of the greater Group Trucks Purchasing division of 22 employees. The majority of the group are based in our Wacol offices and are a diverse and dedicated team. With the support of a strong global organisation, the GTP Australia team strive to get the best out of our local suppliers to ensure we build the best trucks in the country. We focus on quality, delivery, cost, features, technology, sustainability and risk management. We develop long-term relationships with our suppliers for us to be their number one partner of choice.
Who are you?
We believe that your behaviours and personal attributes are just as important as your technical ability. Ideally you will have:
- Extensive experience working in a similar Supplier Quality focused role
- A tertiary qualification related to Purchasing / Procurement is desirable but not essential
- Strong problem-solving abilities, good analytical skills and logical thinking
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Sound knowledge of automotive quality standards
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to create networks and to lead cross functional activities within multi-cultural teams
- Strong project management skills
