Light Vehicle Technician

This program aims to recruit Light vehicle Technicians and convert them to Heavy Vehicle Technicians. 

Possible recruits can be from car, plant, bike or other related backgrounds providing they have experience working in industry.

Once finished the program, you will be awarded by the IMI with a Level 3 Technical Certificate in HGV Maintenance & Repair.  

 

 

What you will do

At Washington Truck and Bus Centre Depot you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. 

 

As a Light Vehicle Technician converting to a HGV technician, you will be joining our Service & Workshop team at our Volvo Truck and Bus Centre. Where you will be ensuring repairs are carried out according to Volvos Standards. Here at Volvo Trucks, we believe are at the forefront of Electromobility so you will also be working on a range of systems which include alternative fuels such as LNG, hybrid and Full electric vehicles.

 

Don’t worry if you don’t have experience with these alternative systems. When joining you will be provided with a training path. Starting with an induction at the depot to foundations events which will take you through all systems you will be using. As well as a number of courses both online and in-person to develop your skills and support you in your new role.

Who are you?

 In this role, you will bring:

  • City and Guilds / A Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles is recommended; however Level 2, or similar qualification will be considered.
  • Light Vehicle experience - ability to demonstrate knowledge and experience on cars, vans, plants or motorbikes.
  • Attitude and willingness to work in the Truck Industry as well as relevant experience working on vehicles.
