About the role

You will combine your technical expertise with your leadership skills to develop, coach, and inspire a team of data engineers. You will be responsible for building a high-performing community of data professionals, ensuring the delivery of robust data pipelines, and implementing best practices in data engineering. You will also perform hands-on work, as data engineer, you will develop data platforms and pipelines using Azure Databricks and other, modern technology stacks.

We are supporting our employees in becoming highly skilled experts in data that can support all of Volvo Group to become a data driven company.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and coach a team of data engineers in Poland, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence. 
  • Drive technical initiatives related to data pipelines, data lakes, data governance, and data management in cloud environments, primarily Azure Databricks
  • Build and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure data platforms supporting analytics, AI, and machine learning projects. 
  • Promote best practices in DataOps, MLOps, DevSecOps, and modern data engineering frameworks like Spark/Databricks, Data Modeling, and Data Governance. 
  •  Collaborate with global teams to share knowledge, align standards, and implement innovative data solutions. 
  •  Manage capacity planning, resource allocation, and stakeholder expectations to ensure timely delivery of data projects. 
  •  Act as a mentor and role model, inspiring your team to grow their skills and reach their full potential.

What we expect?

  • Proven experience as a data engineer with a strong technical background in data pipelines, data lakes, and cloud platforms (Azure preferred). 
  • Leadership experience, ideally in line organizations or project teams, with a passion for developing talent. 
  • Deep knowledge of data engineering tools and frameworks such as Databricks, DataOps, MLOps, ETL/ELT, and data governance. 
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to operate tactically, manage ambiguity, and adapt to changing priorities. 
  • Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to collaborate across teams and functions. 
  • A growth mindset, eager to learn, share knowledge, and drive innovation.
