‘Data’ is an organization within Volvo Digital & IT with the goal to unlock the power of data for the full Volvo Group to become a fully data-driven company! With data, the core component of our transformation journey, we will, together with our data talents, make the Volvo Group 2030 vision happen. We will take care of all the aspects of Data, how it is quality assured, documented, made available, prepared, and used through BI, Analytics and Machine Learning. We have an ambitious transformation in front of us, with the implementation of the Data Layer in Azure as well as the reinforcement of Data Governance and Data Management in the full Group.

The ‘Data’ function is a large multi-cultural organization with 600+ employees and contractors located mainly in 7 countries - Sweden, Poland, India, Belgium, Brazil, USA, and France.

This is a Flexible position, and in this role, you will be joining as a Digital Product Owner for Data Operations to Data & AI Foundation department in Wroclaw (Poland) or Bangalore (India). Please mention the location in your application.

Job Mission

To lead, develop, and grow a high-performing Data Operation’s that consistently delivers value and excellence to internal stakeholders. This role is at the forefront of aligning operational service delivery with strategic goals, operational efficiency, continuous operational improvement, and internal customer satisfaction.

About this Role

As the Digital Product Owner for Data Operations, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of operational delivery related to data platforms and services. You will act as the primary point of contact for managing operations from the department's perspective, ensuring that service quality, compliance, and performance standards are consistently met. This includes managing vendor relationships, leading incident resolution, maintaining documentation, overseeing governance, and driving operational efficiency through best practices and continuous improvements. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced person to oversee and coordinate Data Operations activities, ensuring efficient service delivery and operational excellence from the department’s perspective. This role requires strong leadership to manage daily operations, foster collaboration with external service providers, and drive continuous improvements in data-related processes and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day Data Operations activities to ensure adherence to agreed service levels (SLAs) and quality standards.
  • Prepare detailed reports and dashboards for senior management highlighting operational status, key metrics, and improvement plans.
  • Oversee incident handling and problem resolution, conducting thorough root cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and maintain operational processes, including managing changes and monitoring events affecting infrastructure, services, and applications.
  • Lead the onboarding and integration of new Data Operations phases, ensuring seamless transition and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with external partners to review operational performance regularly and address any service issues proactively.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of all relevant workflows, data flows, and system prerequisites, while maintaining an up-to-date knowledge repository.
  • Coordinate with internal experts and stakeholders to maintain alignment across all Data Operations initiatives.
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts, identifying opportunities for enhancing processes and platform efficiency.
  • Secure compliance with internal policies and processes
  • Implement and oversee regular housekeeping activities to optimize platform performance and remove obsolete components. Manage access management reviews.
  • Promote a culture focused on service excellence, effective communication, and proactive problem-solving.
  • Manage contractual relationship with partners
  • Manage internal Data Operations governance and drive monthly partner performance reviews

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in operations management, or a related role, ideally within IT or technology environments.
  • Strong ability to lead teams, manage stakeholders, and drive operational excellence.
  • Comfortable coordinating with technical teams and external partners, even if not deeply technical yourself. Knowledge about Azure Cloud would be a plus.
  • Experience in managing operation service delivery, incident management, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Willingness and ability to quickly learn the specifics of data operations and associated technologies.
  • Good understanding of service management principles, such as ITIL or similar frameworks, is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies and culture would be a plus
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
