What you will do

Key Responsibilities:
The main responsibility in this role is to lead the development of our classification framework. By using domain expertise, the Global HS Expert sets the direction for the classification methodology evolution. By inclusive leadership we develop a collaboration environment for customs classification across the regions, making sure we develop the right competence in all countries where it is needed. The Global HS Expert is the owner of our HS classification methodology, including HS Forum, guidelines, and Navigation tool. Additionally, this role is responsible for ensuring high-quality classification and overseeing the quality process and AQL (Acceptable Quality Level). Focus is on functional leadership over performing activities 
 
Responsibilities:

  • The Global HS Expert leads the development of the HS Forum as the owner and chairman, with the authority to delegate activities related to the HS Forum operation in alignment with line managers in the Master Data and the regions.
  • This role also involves owning the HS classification methodology, which includes classification guidelines, forum notes, and classification notes, and prioritizing the work with methodology development. Supervision, updates and maintenance of tools that combine these methodologies (e.g. Navigation tool) as a whole and help classifiers/controllers in their daily work. The role also involves ensuring compliance with rules for automatic classification and cross-classification rules. Global HS Expert has the authority to delegate this work in alignment with line managers in Master Data and the regions.
  • Leads the development of the classification strategy as the owner and chairman, with the authority to delegate activities related to the operation of meetings aimed at establishing the correct classification path, in alignment with line managers in the Master Data and the regions.
  • Responsible for quality assurance and monitoring activities within the classification teams, ensuring adherence to established standards and improving the process. This includes providing coaching and mentoring to classification controllers to help them achieve desired quality levels. 
  • As part of Master Data Management team, coach line managers in competence development and ensuring a balanced distribution of competencies across the organization.
  • Driving investigations into strategic topics. Managing strategic projects and delegating tasks in coordination with line managers from Master Data.
  • Furthermore, Global HS Expert liaises with regional heads and line managers to support the needs of all classification regions, assists in maintaining compliance policies and procedures, and helps develop analytics and metrics to ensure the operation reaches the desired quality level.

• Master’s Degree in relevant field preferred or equivalent
Senior knowledge and experience with HS/HTS classifications.
• Ability to explain complex domain specific topics to external stakeholders
• Takes active part in setting the strategy for the organization, has ability to drive the change and strategic development, assisting in forming the organization going forward
• Act as an expert in HS/HTS classification
