About Software & Hardware Asset Management:
Software & Hardware Asset Management is responsible for the management of IT assets, which includes optimizing the value and cost while mitigating the risks these assets present to the Volvo Group throughout their life. This is done by establishing an effective technology life cycle that spans from IT asset selection, operation, refresh, migration, and optimization, all the way through the retirement and disposal of the asset. Responsible for the governance of this life cycle and reporting data that is captured throughout the life cycle to improve the management of IT assets within the Volvo Group.

As Software Asset Manager you must have proven experience in the software asset management area. You are expected to create a trustful relationship with your stakeholders & external partners. You need to demonstrate core values according to the Volvo Group. Last but not least, you are a true change agent who can work in an open & challenging area.
Since you are part of a global unit, with global responsibilities, you will need to actively cooperate with various stakeholders and navigate with ease in a multi-cultural environment. You also are expected to have a strong focus on quality and a personal drive to reach the objectives and targets set for your area.
Your team
This organization is gathering experts in the Software and Hardware Asset Management area. You have a key role in managing and optimizing the processes within SAM area and deliveries to the Volvo Group in your scope. You operate in a global context, having number of interfaces with Volvo stakeholders. You also have the financial responsibility for the SAM budget.

Key responsibilities:
- Develop and manage license consumption metering processes for products in scope (licenses, software, consumption based, etc.). Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with software licensing terms and conditions. Identify any potential compliance gaps or risks. Take necessary actions to rectify them.
- Develop and implement license usage policies and guidelines to ensure compliance and optimize license utilization. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to define policies that align with business needs and industry best practices.
- Analyze license usage data to identify opportunities for optimization. Identify underutilized licenses, explore license reassignment options, and make recommendations for optimizing license allocation and usage.
- Operationally manage contracts and relationships to maximize value creation and costs for software licensing, maintenance, and service offerings.
- Maintain centralized repository of license contracts, agreements, POs, invoice files. Ensure that all documents are up to date, properly described, and easily accessible for reference.
- Support software procurement and secure it is performed in line with the Volvo Group policies.
- Contribute to the preparation and monitoring of the consolidated budget for software products and licenses.
- Act as a main contact when external audits occur.
- Support the strategic, tactical, and commercial discussions along with decisions that affect software and licenses (according to the vendor interaction model).
- Advise relevant project, program, infrastructure and application portfolio managers on software licensing and compliance, recommended actions that will optimize the software portfolio.
- Stay updated within the area (new licensing models, trends and be part of communities etc.).
- Run internal licensing portfolio governance; provide reports on license compliance, budget follow-up, report optimization efforts and cost savings achieved through license management activities. Provide insights and recommendations to stakeholders, management teams, based on data analysis to support decision-making processes.
- Cooperate and maintain relationships with external suppliers and consulting companies.
- Drive and maintain your own SAM external and internal network, represent the Volvo Group on external events and conferences, SAM events, etc.
- Remove road blockers, suggest ways to move forward.
Required competencies and experience:
- Proven professional history within license management and administration, software licensing, software asset management for end user/desktop software and mid-tail software products and services
- Proven track of end-user/desktop software and mid-tail software licensing principles and contractual aspects expertise
- Experience from leading in a global context, cross-cultural awareness, and skills.
- Experience with ITSM and SAM tools is an asset (SAM Pro, FNMEA, FNMS, FlexeraOne)
- A clear sense of end-to-end ownership management and initiative/proactiveness skills
- Ability to identify, understand, and prioritize the interests, needs and concerns of various stakeholders, including executive level, from the SAM perspective
- Excellent communication & presentation skills
- A clear sense of end-to-end ownership
- Comfort with multi-source data analysis
- Complete proficiency in English is a requirement
- Technical background is an asset
- Relevant university degree
- Experience with vendor management is an asset
- Negotiation skills are an asset
